Hope4Hardship’s Michael Russell Featured on the Hispanic Wealth Matters Podcast with Jose Tejada

The Hispanic Wealth Matters Podcast

Michael Russell recently appeared on the Hispanic Wealth Matters podcast with Jose Tejada. The episode was entitled “Turning Personal Struggle into a Life Mission, How Hope4Hardship Helps Homeowners Stay in their Homes.

“I believe wholeheartedly the one thing you can’t fake in life is shared struggle. You can fake anything else but you can’t fake shared struggle. So I have great empathy for people who are going through financial hardship. And if you are at threat of losing your home, it is tremendously likely that you have other problems in your life that frankly are much larger than just the financial piece. And that makes it very challenging to laser your focus into that financial piece and try to remedy that because you’ve got so many other issues going on in your life… When we are facing financial problems, there is a lot of denial. There’s a lot of blaming. There’s a lot of pointing fingers. You’d be amazed at how many people actually blame their bank for being behind on their mortgage. You know, seems silly to say it out

loud, but it’s reality. I have great empathy for that. I understand it. I went two years in my life not opening any mail. And so there’s, there’s, there’s no shame in that struggle for me.”
